Food and Restaurants

The surrounding area of Salcombe, East Portlemouth and nearby villages have a host of amazing restaurants, bars and cafes. Salcombe has an active fishing industry so fresh local fish is easy to come by and the neighboring farms provide a wide range of locally sourced food an vegetables. Below are some of our recommendations

The Millbrook Inn

The Millbrook Inn is situated in the cosy country village of south pool which is about 15 minutes drive away from Ferryside. The Inn is next to a small stream which runs into the estuary. The pub can be access by car or for the more adventurous boat (only at high tide).

This pub serves a wide range ales and beers. The menu changes regularly but is always of a high standard.

Worth a visit but book in advance as tables can go fast.

The Winking Prawn

The Winking Prawn is a beach side Cafe that serves excellent fresh fish. As the name suggests the prawns are one to try. The Winking Prawn is located on North Sands. You can get here by getting the ferry across to Salcombe and walking the 15 minute walk to North Sands. The view looks out to sea and there is a small beach immediately in front of the cafe. One to try even if you don’t like sea food. Recommend the BBQ.
